  I have long held several ideas about how I wanted my magazine to turn out, but I have recently been challenged by both making it original and more concentrated with a central theme or idea.   My decisions were helped along by the activities and research we conducted in class and personal reflection.   When we watched a Ted Talk, the speaker almost immediately struck me with what he said about children and creativity.   I have heard that most people lose their imagination over time and I must say I have to agree.   He said children are extremely curious and think expansively but over time their thinking turns reductive.   This made me challenge myself to think more expansively.   Many would call this “thinking outside the box” and it is training your self to be more receptive to a wide range of ideas.   After the talk, when we did the exercise of describing yourself through a constraint, I chose books as my constraint.   This was easiest a...

  After only a couple weeks in this class, I knew that I wanted to work independently.   Given the choice, I usually choose to work alone over a group.   In some classes, I may choose to work in a group, but in those cases I am very familiar or already have a relationship with the individuals.   I am pretty shy, especially at school, which is a contributing factor.   I also value my independence and have carried that characteristic throughout my life.   When I was younger, I always insisted on doing things myself and not getting help, and I still often refuse help.   This is not always wise, and lately I have learned how important it is to learn from others.    This does not change my decision to work alone, but it has taught me to be more receptive and less stubborn.    I am no longer opposed to working with others, but I am still shy and less likely to.   One part is that I do not like confrontation or arguing.   I may s...

 Decision Day      Initially, I was a bit overwhelmed by both InDesign and Premier Pro.   I had to stay focused during the tutorials.   I would get behind by getting stuck trying to figure out one feature.   However, I enjoyed learning about the programs and tried to spend more time testing them out.   Before we learned how to use the apps, I had already decided to do a magazine.   When we were learning Indesign I was careful.   Even though I learned a great deal, it will still take a lot of time to get used to the app and perfect what I wish to execute.        For my magazine, I would like to create an elegant literary magazine with culture, literature, art, etc.   I will use features like text frame fitting to fit my texts around the images and make it symmetrical, with equal spacing.   I will use it on the content page with putting the article titles and descriptions in columns.   I want to be very...
