Post-Production 2- Last Look Before Submission

 Editing was not as daunting a task as I had expected.  Today, I took another look at my magazine. I am satisfied with the small edits I made, as stated in the previous blog post.  Overall, I am content with my magazine but there are certain aspects I wish were different.  Particularly, I think my paintings could have been a bit cleaner and more true to how I am used to painting rather than how I tried to for this project. I think they may have turned out better had I tried to paint more natural beauty, flora and fauna.  People is my weakness and I should have addressed that earlier.  However, I enjoyed parts of the experience of making it.  This includes what I learned from the interview and writing the article.  

I also think I could have been more creative and used my strengths to make it a better product but time and uncertainty harmed it.  However, I am glad to be able to share Cultureprism.

Peer Review

      I received some enlightening feedback on my project, but it was overall very positive.  I was relieved and pleased with what was said.  When I went up to the board to present it also gave me perspective seeing my work enlarged on the screen.  I saw that it actually came through nicely and was not as blurry, but I also recognized that my Contents page looked a lot more crowded and unproportionate than I thought.       As for positive reinforcement, I had several say that they thought my project was creative and original.  They liked how I had painted the images and kept a theme throughout.  A few said that they liked that the images were simplistic and colorful.  They also said that the overall look was professional.  Two of my classmates said that it was appealing because it was like an illustrated children's book.  This made me happy to hear; my concept benefits from being as bookish as possible. ...

Production 2- Continued Work on Images

    This week,  I have worked on sketching out each image, first in pencil.  After I am satisfied with the pencil sketch I go over it in waterproof pen.  I have only gone over the mountain scene at the bottom in pen; the other images are still being sketched out.  While the cover page is hard as it is big and important, it is difficult to do the smaller images  on the content page.   I am not sure exactly how the text will fit.   I put the storyboard page over and measured out where the columns go.   Horizontally, I am confined by the columns, but I decided that vertically I could be roughly around the size from my storyboard.   I also went to Michael’s craft store again and bought different sized Micron pens.   I can use the thinner one for details and shading with lines while the larger one will make it much easier for outlines than the one I was using.
